Marjane Satrapi
Marjane Satrapi, born in 1969, writes cartoon strips, scenarios and is an Iranian illustrator. Her first publication: the first volume of ‘Persepolis‘ was a critical success and the public loved it. In 2003, ‘Broderies‘ was named the best album in its category at Angoulême. The following year she won this prize again with ‘Poulet aux prunes‘.
First memories
I have been traumatised by satchels. As a result I retain a real aversion to all leather bags.
First feelings
I have no feelings towards this accessory, so ready am I to reject its casing. I only use textile bags for men by Prada, and smaller and smaller ones. As long as I can fit a notebook in them then all is well.
Final desires
If I hadn’t succeeded in cartoons, I would have loved to have been an artisan tile-fitter. Today, where we make everything die quickly, one must invest in artisans. Ever since I’ve earned a good living, I have had my shoes handmade. Generally: Long live made-to-measure.
