Earliest memories
I come from a country where punctuality is a form of politeness - Switzerland, the home of the watch. From Geneva, to be precise. I learned there that arriving on time was like saying hello, thank you, and goodbye. Even now in Switzerland, right from childhood, you tend to look at everyone’s wrist. You have to realize that a watch doesn’t only tell you the time, it also tells you a great deal about the person. A clear memory?With my first salary, I bought myself a superb carpet and a watch.
First feelings
I find time very soothing. For me, it isn’t a stress factor, as it is for so many people. In my office, the time is projected onto the wall 1 meter 50 by 1 meter 50, and I love that. It’s very calming. My dream watch? La Doña de Cartier.
Last wishes
A watch is timeless, as everyone has their own notion of time. My watch is my time for me. I’d panic without it. And I think you need to make the connection between that notion and the watch as a luxury object. That’s why I gave my son a very beautiful Rolex for his twentieth birthday. No, the mobile phone won’t kill off the watch.
