This bracelet is a beautiful Art Deco creation by Cartier from 1935.
I was fortunate to hold in my hands a model similar to Gloria Swanson’s when we sold one of the 3 of this series in October 2000 at Christie’s in New York. It belonged to Madame François Coty, the wife of the great perfumer. Mounted on a rubber band, the crystal lamellae were separated by diamond motifs that were reflected in the rock. It allowed the person wearing it to slide it onto the wrist and adjust it to fit perfectly.
Result: $ 200,000 after a fierce battle between two collectors who wanted it at all costs.
